The Blood Zoonotics Unit uniquely covers xenotransplantation related surveillance and policy development. It develops new methods to identify animal viruses capable of transmission to human hosts, relevant to xenotransplantation. Surveillance for exposure to these agents is conducted and potential intervention measures are assessed, culminated in policy recommendations.

L'Unité des zoonoses hématogènes est responsable seulement de la surveillance et de l'élaboration de politiques liées à la xénotransplantation. On y développe de nouvelles méthodes d'identification des virus zoophiles transmissibles à des hôtes humains et pertinents pour la xénotransplantation. On surveille l'exposition à ces agents et on évalue les mesures recommandations en matière de politiques.
